So Much Bollywood, So Little Time
The past couple of weeks at Bollywood501 have been stressful. I have been dealing with some major computer OS problems which at one point threatened to eat my computer and everything on it. Shiva was poised to stop dancing on my hard drives and my web design software was crashing beyond control. So I spent the past weeks solving my OS software issues, and happily say, cured the ills. The time has allowed me to step back from this site, and contemplate on where it is all going.
Sometimes I work on this site, Bollywood501, with such a sense of urgency it verges on the obsessive. My over riding anxiety is the fact that, there is so much Bollywood, and so little time. Everyday presents itself with the fact that the more Bollywood I see, the more that is revealed. The research potential of the Indian Popular film is staggering. My dilemma is, what can I present here with my limited time and resources? How could one small web site (well my site is over 1,000 mb of material small at this point) hope to cover even more than the basics of the world of the Hindi Popular film? The past year here at Bollywood501 I have abandoned my "comprehensive" approach, in favor of just show and telling what interests me about Bollywood on any given day. There is so much Bollywood, and so little time.
I am the sole administrator here and with the exception of a guest writer once and the occasional quotation, I'm also the sole writer, photo processor/editor, site designer, etc. This is my mad project, as my friend Ed has said to me, "the way I've found a connection with India". I wish I could spend all of my time working on Bollywood501, however I also work at a "real job" full time, and then real life gets in the way too. This site is actually a "hobby site", one that has gotten totally out of hand.
I receive emails from all over the world from people who have visited Bollywood501. (Thanks, I love the input!) Many people make requests to see more of their favorite actors and actresses profiled. The truth is, so do I, but I just don't have the time to do these profiles at present. I'm working on it though, so hang in there folks. Putting together content is not as easy as it seems, its time consuming, with a lot of grunt labor, and my web site philosophy right now is to work on what excites me in this, the very present moment. And well, working on Evergreen Actor and Actress Profiles, just isn't doing it for me today. Not to say that there aren't a whole bunch of Evergreen Actor and Actresses that I should have in the profiles, there are, but I just don't have the time. Then again in a few months I may come to the realization that creating more actor and actress profiles is the most important thing... Its my site, and in the words of Cartman, "I do what I want".
I've recently done a Google search for Bollywood501 and as of today there are 3220 search results. Even more on the fun side, I did a Goggle "Image" search for Bollywood501 and there are 2130 images from this site posted there...
So, that's enough of thinking, and back to the doing. This is Bollywood501 back up and running.
